Day 1: Superbowl Sunday and Laser Whips

During the Superbowl, I saw many commercials advertising a chance to win tickets to next year's Superbowl game (in Dallas). To win this trip, all I would have to do is find the Budweiser group on Facebook, become a fan, and see who they pick for the trip. The name was to be announced as soon as the game ended. I joined the group with three minutes left in the fourth quarter. I haphazardly plowed through a beer survery and a personal details forum. I repeatedly hit refresh on my browser post-game, waiting for the chance to read my name. Instead, the name I read was Frédéric Demonceaux of Saint-henri De Lévis, Québec.

When I read this, I realized something, I did not win a trip to next year's Superbowl (in Dallas). This surprised me, because I have won many things in the past. A snowboarding trip to Banff. A Beverly Hills 90210 windsurfer. A Coca-Cola hat. Etc. If I won all those things, surly I could win a trip to next year's Superbowl (in Dallas). I have luck!

In short, I have luck. But I have never made a concious effort to focus this luck (like a laser whip). Today, after losing the trip to next year's Superbowl (in Dallas), I made a vow that I would do more things to exercise my luck. I will put quarters into VLT machines, I will fill out little cards while the teenagers bag my groceries. Heck, I might even buy a lottery ticket. My promise to year, dear reader, is that I am going to do at least one thing, every day this year, that may or may not win me some sort of dividend.

That brings us to this blog. Like most people, you are probably very interested to find out if I will or will not win things with my laser whip luck focus. Come back tomorrow to learn more about my adventures in gambling.
